01 May How to Make an Intro that Impacts Within 30-Seconds
When you’re talented and know your stuff — it’s pretty easy to deliver your genius, magic thing to your customers via services, courses and/or products. Why is it pretty simple? Because your life experiences have helped you to discern how you best serve others.
Through the miniature disasters, major mishaps, and miraculous milestones; you’ve continued to hone your craft (and figure out what your people struggle with) so that inevitably, your brilliance shines through in the value that you bring to others.
Does that sound about right? Cool.
But today I want to talk about the thing that doesn’t come so easily. Regardless of how many times you’ve altered this thing, it just doesn’t come out in a way that gives your true mission justice. What is this thing?
It’s your introduction which is critical to your reputation and credibility. When someone asks, “So, what do you do?”
You have two choices: to either expand or shrink. To show up expansively with an intro that exudes confidence and clarity or to shrink and fumble with some jargon that not only feels inauthentic but merely hints at what your true gifts and passions are. You have limited time to make an impactful impression. This is why I created the free Intro that Impacts Template for you.
Here’s a News Flash: People will judge you. Our default as humans is to make assumptions and categorize input. You don’t want to be placed in the boring bin do you?
Of course not! You have something wonderful to offer the world and there are many more people who really want what you have to offer. They just need to understand exactly what you do.
I’ve worked with plenty of clients that struggle with their intros. Regardless of how brilliant you are or how much experience you have – crafting a message that captures the essence of who you are and how you serve is not easy. The Intro that Impacts Template can put an end to your struggles.
When people don’t quite understand what you do, it not only hurts but stifles your impact. Take it from someone who knows firsthand. When I first started Striking Statements my intro contained words that reflected what I used to do in corporate PR because it was what I was used to but not what I wanted to continue doing.
As a result, I attracted people who hired me to do the things that I wanted to get away from like media pitches and press releases. While I could and did do the work, it didn’t reflect my passion and so I was attracting the wrong people while doing things that didn’t turn me on. Don’t let this happen to you!
It can be frustrating and even embarrassing when you struggle to find the right words to articulate the importance of why you’re so passionate and how you can help others.
What you need is an intro that’s concise + memorable. One that wows without being too wordy yet resonates with others enough for them to say, “Tell me more.” If you still haven’t nailed down an introduction that can do this, you should get my free Intro that Impacts Template.
We are compelled to a mission because it speaks to the essence of who we are and our commitment to that mission becomes what we stand for. The biggest statement you have to make to the world reflects what you stand for. Shouldn’t it be accurate and make a memorable connection?
I think so, too! And a sure way to alleviate your frustrations is by empowering you with a template to help you make an introduction that impacts —within 30-seconds.
In honor of your abundance + success as always!
Practice helps bring clarity so be sure to put it the template to good use in as many different scenarios as possible.
