I was born and raised in Charlottesville. A beautiful, quaint town known as the home of Thomas Jefferson's Monticello and the University of Virginia. I lived in Albemarle County where the public school system was great. Overall, Charlottesville was a pretty and clean - yet uneventful place. So uneventful in fact that I COULD NOT WAIT to graduate high school and move out. I didn’t grow up poor but I struggle to determine whether my household should be considered middle class....

Ever wonder how I came up with my business name? I named my business Striking Statements because I wanted something that stood out to people who want to stand out. We make statements all the time about who we are by the way we do our hair, adorn our bodies, and talk. We also make statements through the people we choose to be  friends with, where we like to dine, shop, or travel. But this is only the beginning. Let's not stop there...

The story behind my purpose will give you a better understanding of who I am and why I've chosen Striking Statements as the vessel through which I share my gift. The experiences, the pain, and the person that led me to my purpose all pertains to you. The date was May 30th 2008. The day my son was born at home in a warm tub surrounded by my two midwives and boyfriend while my 5-year old daughter slept downstairs. What a peaceful birth...

 There's a little 4 letter F word that will either propel you into ecstasy or put a choke hold on you; stifling your creativity, courage, and most importantly, the change that you want so much to see and be. For a brilliant professional like yourself, it's absolutely critical to recognize what this is when it appears,  how to face it, and how to keep moving when the easiest thing to do is to do nothing.
