I often get asked how I came up with the concept of my company, Striking Statements, because it is so unique and a much needed service. Two years ago, an executive at the organization that I worked at came to me to help him plan a wonderful surprise for his 30 year marriage anniversary. I was honored that he chose me to plan an occasion for such a special milestone and was delighted to take on the challenge. After we sat down for a consultation to find out more about his wife’s unique personality and the kinds of activities or experiences she may be intrigued by, he told me that she’d always dreamed of seeing a show on Broadway and that neither of them had ever been to New York. That was all the information I needed to start making reservations for his trip to NYC. I worked within his budget to find a fabulous hotel in the heart of midtown; reserve tickets to the broadway show The Color Purple; arranged for a limousine to pick them up from the airport and made dinner reservations for their first night in town.

He returned to work a very happy man and couldn’t thank me enough for helping turn his wife’s dream into a reality and pulling together an anniversary trip that they will remember forever.  It was really at that point that I knew there was a real need for the type of service that I had just provided.  People always have special moments that they want to celebrate but don’t always have the time, energy, or creativity.  What can I say?  The rest is history.
